Job Description
PWC IT is responsible for the success of our central technology efforts in our federated business model.

The Solutions Architect is responsible for setting and maintaining the firm's Solutions Architecture, i.e., the framework within which all IT applications and services are delivered.

The Solutions Architect reflects and enables the business strategy of the firm and accommodates changes to that strategy.

Position/Program Requirements
Minimum Year(s) of Experience: 10

Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or GED

Degree Preferred: Bachelor's degree

Knowledge Preferred:

Demonstrates thought leader-level knowledge with, and/or a proven record of success directing efforts in IT strategy, architecture, engineering, operations, policy, processes, standards, organizational design, governance, change management, enabling technology and program delivery in the following areas:

- Leading efforts and leveraging knowledge related to Cloud Management Platforms, Virtualization Strategies, Automation and Orchestration Strategies, Public Cloud Platforms, Azure specific knowledge, Cloud Capacity/Performance Optimization, and Application Migrations to a Cloud Platform with a clear understanding of how an IT organization capitalizes upon technology to enable the business;

- Leveraging leadership experience including building large teams, creating a positive work environment by developing new opportunities, successful delivery of engagements, monitoring of organizational health, and the driving of thought leadership;

- Using architectural design and application delivery in technologies that include, but are not limited to cloud, mobile, web, APIs/microservices, automation, and continuous integration/continuous deployment;

- Establishing Software Development Lifecycles and methodologies including agile, scrum, iterative and waterfall, using blended resources;

- Using IT business process and frameworks including, but not limited to, Identity Access Management (IdAM), Enterprise Application Integration, Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, Content Management, Reporting, Mobility, Master Data Management, and Search;

- Interpreting and translating goals into technical specifications, delivering thought-leadership of specific technologies, and driving technology change; and,

- Leveraging business knowledge and interpersonal skills to build, maintain, and influence relationships with senior leaders in IT and throughout the business.

Skills Preferred:

Demonstrates thought leader-level abilities with, and/or a proven record of success directing efforts in managing projects related to the following:

- Using strategy, architecture, operations and transformation as well building an enterprise cloud, elastic scaling, and automated application deployment;

- Leveraging architectural design and implementation experience with major cloud management (e.g. BMC, HP, CA, VMWare, etc), service catalog, virtualization, automation, orchestration (e.g. Chef, Puppet) public cloud vendors (e.g. AWS, Rackspace, etc), project management, and ITIL/ITSM;

- Leading architectural and engineering reviews of proposed IT investments/solutions to determine the strategic alignment and technical soundness;

- Providing technical recommendations to senior leaders to assist the decisions on proposed IT investments/solutions;

- Advising on application solutions including assisting with planning and architectural design, development, resolution of technical issues, and application rationalization;

- Assessing the viability and feasibility of third party solutions to meet business goals;

- Advising and influencing project sponsors and teams on the technical directions;

- Collaborating with other Solution Architects and Developers to provide technical design guidance that will align with the strategy and applicable technical standards;

- Working independently to evaluate and make strategic decisions that will address specific technology design needs and issues within their technology area;

- Influencing the sphere of technology in the use of innovation to advance business capabilities;

- Providing coaching and technical mentoring; and,

- Interpreting and providing guidance regarding technical systems and project and implementation management areas.
